Aixa Alarcón is a Fellow Scientist in R&D at Johnson & Johnson Vision in Groningen, where she focuses on the design and development of intraocular lenses.
She holds bachelor’s degrees in Physics and in Optics and Optometry from the University of Granada (Spain). She completed her PhD in Physics at the same institution in 2011 and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Rochester (NY, USA). She joined Johnson & Johnson in 2014 where currently leads the Implant Design Team.
Aixa brings extensive expertise in visual science, clinical metrology, and optical design. She is the author or co-inventor of several patents, scientific publications, and scientific presentations at leading international conferences, including ESCRS, ASCRS, and ARVO.
Aixa Alarcon, PhD, and colleagues reported natural image analysis may better predict real-world visual performance of premium intraocular lenses than traditional single-frequency MTF testing, while also capturing the impact of dysphotopsias and residual astigmatism.
