Editorial board members to present at Retina World Congress 2025

Retina World Congress 2025 is set to take place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 8 through May 11, 2025. This meeting brings together retina specialists from around the globe to discuss research developments, surgical techniques, and the most up to date methods for treating patients.

Among those who will attend this meeting, several members of the Editorial Advisory Boards for Modern Retina and Ophthalmology Times will be attending and presenting at this meeting.

Modern Retina Editorial Advisory Board Presenters

Thomas A. Albini, MD

Dr. Albini will be the session chair for a series of presentations on uveitis. He will chair the sessions on May 8, 2025 from 1:24-2:14 PM ET. These sessions will cover pediatric uveitis, new therapies for non-infectious uveitis, and Dengue’s Retinopathy, among others.

J. Fernando Arevalo, MD, PhD, FACS, FASRS

Across the length of the conference, Arevalo will chair a session that covers an array of genetic and surgical retina treatments and case presentations. On the final day of the conference, May 11, 2025, Arevalo will give a presentation titled, “ELEVATUM Study Results.”

Judy E. Kim, MD, FARVO, FASRS

Kim will feature on panels at this event and will also present a “Home OCT Update” on May 11, 2025 at 8:59-9:04 AM ET.

Anat Loewenstein, MD

On the morning of May 9, 2025, Loewenstein is scheduled to give a presentation titled, “Comparing Surgeons' Muscle Tension While Operating Using a Standard Surgical Microscope versus an Ophthalmic Exoscope with an Augmented-reality Headset.” This will take place from 9:16-9:21 AM ET. Later the same day, she will also be the session chair for a series of presentations on wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Aleksandra V. Rachitskaya, MD, FASRS

At the event, Rachiskaya will participate in and moderate panels that discuss treatment for diabetic macular edema (DME), tyrosine kinase inhibitors as treatment options, case presentations, and the surgical video gallery being shown as part of the conference.

Rishi P. Singh, MD, FASRS

Singh will moderate several panels at the event as well as give a presentation entitled, “SIGLEC Study of AVD-104 for Geographic Atrophy.” This presentation will take place on May 9, 2025, at 5:56-6:01 PM ET.

Ophthalmology Times Editorial Advisory Board Presenters

David R. Chow, MD

As one of the first sessions on May 9, 2025, Chow will chair the session on surgery technology. These presentations are set to include presentations on robotic vitreoretinal surgery, intraoperative fluorescein angiography, and Intraoperative OCT for Pediatric Maculopathy.

Sharon Fekrat, MD, FACS, FASRS

In addition to being the session chair for abstract presentations and Medical Retina: DME and Diabetic Retinopathy, Fekrat will also give a presentation called, “Multimodal Retinal Imaging in Neurodegenerative Disease: 2025 Update.” She is scheduled to give this presentation on May 11, 2025, at 8:51-8:56 AM ET.

Tarek S. Hassan, MD

Hassan will moderate a session on trauma and PVR where the session participants will present cases and discuss them as a panel. He will also be the session chair for several presentations covering retinal detachment surgery. On May 10, 2025, from 2:13-2:18 pm ET, Hassan will give a presentation on, “Serial Relaxing Retinotomies in the Management of PVR.”

Kapil Mishra, MD

On May 10, 2025, Mishra will discuss “Radiation Retinopathy: Future Strategies.” This presentation is scheduled for 5:02-5:07 PM ET.

Carl Regillo, MD

Regillo will present “VERONA: Results from a Phase 2 Trial of EYP-1901 versus Aflibercept for Diabetic Macular Edema” on May 10, 2025, from 9:48-9:53 AM ET. He is also scheduled to take part in a panel discussion on dry AMD on the evening of May 9, 2025.
